How to erase my old Windows XP?

Goto “Start” then select “Control Panel”, open “system”, goto the “advanced” tab at the top, click “settings” button below startup and recovery. Click “Edit”.

Your now looking at the file responsible for that bootup menu. We can delete the line for the OLD OS from here. Though note the folder name it uses before you do. Eg: theres a line that says default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition… in mine the “\WINDOWS”means I’ve installed windows in the “windows” folder the part before this is a description of the drive, in this example its the C drive. Below [operating systems] all have this line without the “default=” at the start but stuff at the end. And I’ll have another similar line for the other older OS which I’d delete after noting say that its “\WINNT” rather than say “\WINDOWS”.

Now I’ll get rid all the files that make up that old OS, so I’ll goto “start” and select “run”, and type “c:”, push OK, and find the folder that we found old OS lives in and holding shift push delete. Now we have an extra 500MB-1GB Hard drive space. Now finally(this is OPTIONAL) we could also go in to “program files” directory and delete the folders of apps we are CERTAIN we have NOT installed into this OS yet(dont worry while usually this is not how you should unistall software its ok in this case as all the rest of the install stuff is gone)
