How to boot Windows XP from the CD-ROM?
when your computer boots you may see a lot of things listed. Before you change any settings look on this initial page for an option that says boot selection/options (or something like that) and press the required the button if it is displayed. You can then select the CD drive and boot to it.
If you do not see any boot options listed on the first screen, look for something that says press __ to enter Settings. The normal keys are F2 and Del. If instead when you boot your computer you usually see some logo of your computer manufacturer, press Esc when the computer first boots and hopefully the computer will display more information. If not, restart the computer and this time click one of the keys mentioned above while the logo is up.
You should get into these settings known as the BIOS. You will have to scroll from screen to screen using the keyboard. Navigate around using the directions on the page to the boot settings. Use the directions to set the CD drive to the default or first boot device. Then pressing the button (button combination) to save the settings and restart the computer.
When you restart the computer, depending on your XP disc it may prompt you when it detects your disc to press any key to begin setup. Just press any key and setup will load.
