How do i recover boot loader in ubuntu and freebsd wiped by windows xp?
1. There is a GRUB (GRand Unified Bootloader) port for Windows at http://www.geocities.com/lode_leroy/grub… Install that, that will setup GRUB by listing all your installed operating systems
2. If you have a spare partition to play (~2Gb), install knoppix/Ubuntu GNU/Linux. As part of their installation, they will install GRUB (do not use LILO [LInux LOader]) for you which will list all installed operating systems during boot time.
3. Does your freeBSD come with a boot CD with repair option (Windows has it and it just over writes the boot sector and proceeds to repair the installation), you could try that. Beware, it might delete your Windows boot options. You may never get to boot into windows.
