How to run Chkdsk without loading Windows XP Operating software?
1) Put the windows CD and try to boot from CD. This would give you option to repair windows. You can repair directly or use the chkdsk command.
2) If you can start windows, go to the drive you want to scan and right click. Select properties > tools tab > and click check now in error checking.
